Maui Love & Aloha

We jetted on a little putter plane, that felt like it may not make it via the landing, over to Maui and spent the next days visiting our old favorites. We’ve stayed at the Westin quite a bit and it’s always stunning! It was CHILLY though in that water which was strange for us being used to it usually so warm so don’t let the photos fool you. We ended up having to wait for the sun to come out before we could get into that water for sure.

For some reason I don’t have any pictures of me on this trip, minimal at best, but I guess that’s because I’m always the person taking all the pictures. LOL. Plus I find on family trips I have to constantly be organizing, planning, orchestrating and overseeing all components. Anyone else feel this way, especially with kids involved? I never can catch my breath or find time to just comb my hair on family trips! I also am perpetually the driving navigator as well so I really slacked on this one, it was much needed though, but now in hindsight I wish I had a few aloha dresses to look back at. Next time! Anyhow, here is the mini plane that we thought we were about to see our end on again – can’t say I’d do that again.

The absolute highlight of this island for me this round was Mama’s Fish House. We could not have come to this establishment on a more beautiful day and the pictures don’t even sum up how beautiful a place that this truly is. If you go to Maui, be sure to go here, and book well in advance….it’s worth any drive to visit this amazing treasure. The views are beyond breathtaking, the restaurant is amazing, and the decor captures this sort of cross between 60’s/70’s style vibe mixed with a little Regal Beagle. I LOVED everything about this and was ready to wear a vintage, tropical inspired grandma dress to blend in next time. Mrs Roper, anyone?

Let me just touch on the vintage Hawaii details I came across. I’m in SO into this and it makes me feel like I’m on that episode of the Brady Bunch when they visit Hawaii – can I just

For me, this is vintage paneling done right. I highly recommend you check out Hula’s Grill in Maui if you ever have a chance. It’s fantastic food and also decor. I loved these vintage Hawaiian paintings and art collage. It wasn’t anything I expected looking at the website and reviews – nobody mentioned the amazing design of this place.

Meanwhile, Mr. Grump appeared because his stomach was on empty, but nothing like a fun pineapple chair to get a smirky-smile out of him:

The ultimate Kid-Pit device…

This is the only decent family photo of us on the entire trip where we aren’t in bathing suits and my hair isn’t on the receiving end of a bun, so there you have it folks. We love Hawaii, as always, and look forward to more adventures back to the islands. Aloha!
