Top of The Needle

I had the recent luxury of traveling by myself, that means child and husband free, for a quick weekend blitz in Seattle visiting my brother. This was my first solo journey away from the family in 6.5 years in which I whisked myself away to a design and food melting pot destination which stole my heart completely. Seattle – you did not disappoint. The Space Needle – is beyond cool. It’s Star Trek meets Griswold meets 1960’s. All it lacked was Austen Powers himself in a velour suit. I love this thing.

I’ve turned into a complete Pacific North West (PNW) fanatic and can’t get enough of these regions this past year. In fact, I’m increasing my flannel shirt collection and debating paring down my open toed shoe collection all in the love for the PNW culture. I love it all – sandalwood scents looming every corning, pine trees in droves, people who look like they just chopped down trees and bake high end pies, and some of the best signage I’ve ever seen on every business front.

Ballard Avenue was an amazing design inspiration and resource. There is a bit of everything there that you could want from restaurants to shopping. I was truly inspired by one store in particular, Lucca Great Finds, which I highly recommend you check out if in the area. I love that this store felt so out of the box with its collection, finds, and displays. I almost felt as if I were in a Harry Potter book for a minute as it offered a darker side to decor and treasures.

If I lived in a crowded city again, that would be my building…

The other thing I’m relishing in is that my pants are a little tighter after this trip as the food scene in Seattle doesn’t let you down. I’m just glad a lot of walking was involved as you really want to earn your calories so you can keep stopping at the next food spot 10 feet from the last one. Including, Hot Cakes, which basically was my own personal euphoria. If chocolate cake or ice cream floats are your kind of thing you don’t want to miss this gem.

The original Starbucks…did not appreciate or see the guy in heels when I shot this

Tortured my brother with selfies and pictures = he’s cool, I am a nerd who doesn’t care

I need this office door

At Paramount theatre downtown for some comedy relief with the bro

It was a quick 48 hour trip with a lot of dining, drinks, and fun with my brother – thanks so much for hosting me and taking me around the town! Everything in this town is design inspiring and delicious – no doubt! Even the plane sitting on the runway had personality and retro flare!
