I’ve finally embraced the seasons. That’s a strange thing to write or even say out loud but I’ve never consciously been into the seasons. When it was hot I dressed lighter, when it was cold I got out a sweater but never actually prepared and organized for them. As in, I planned my life around them.

We’ve had such a great year so far and its been so full of seasonal bliss. We started a new school and it brought this mama all the way back to being twitter-pated and full of tears again. Such a hard nut for me to swallow that my little guy is now a little kid and all facets of babyhood are gone. Thank god he still loves to get dirty, take baths, and play with play-doh. When that all ends I’ll be bawling for days. I’m still grateful for all the small things that make him little still such as his over the top excitement when learning we are going to the Boardwalk for an end of summer last hoorah!

Ah, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. A local spot that truly keeps the Bay Area small-beach town nostalgia going. I think almost everything is the same from when I was kid even and it’s about as old school as you can find anymore. We like it that way, pray it doesn’t change it too much with the influx of Google employees arriving soon on the other side of the hill by me, we love the old school vibes of this amusement park. It’s truly a technology untouched hidden gem that the “Valley” hasn’t gotten a hold of. If Oracle starts to sponsor it, I think it would lose all of its charm for me.

I am always so inspired by all of Santa Cruz and even the boardwalk. Maybe because it reminds me of being really young, or that it hasn’t changed a bit, or that its just fun…I’m not sure what it is about this amusement park but it’s just magical for us. The sky flyer ride is my favorite not just because you can get a clear panoramic view in every direction but those bucket seats and their colors always engage me. It’s a sherbet pastel palette of heaven floating in the sky.

Part of our regime that my husband started years ago is getting the biggest bread bowl of clam chowder on the pier. Cheesy? Both literally and figuratively. But what kid doesn’t like using their fingers to eat and using bread as a spoon? Taste comes second to tradition in this case and he was a bread beast in that moment – no carb left behind.

Ahh, the heavy smell of corn dogs and churros in the air, are practically pulsating in my stomach just thinking about them. We are going to miss summer when it ends officially soon but are excited to be flying right into the Fall and my favorite holiday, Halloween…!
