The Martha Stewart Project – This Really Happened

I want to preface this blog post by saying that I have always loved Martha Stewart. I still reference her cookbooks all the time and because of her I have mastered the most flawless banana bread of my life. Thank you, M, you made loafs work in my life. I grew up doing all of her crafts, reading her books, and just generally being obsessed at Michael’s Craft Stores trying to afford every bottle of glitter of hers. Insert photo memory book phase here (some of you might have been given one of these glittery, stickery photo bombed books at one point…lucky you) and the endless crafting quests.

I was approached at the beginning of this year by her team to come up with 3 separate design schemes (Living Rooms, Bedrooms, etc.) based off of her preferences for a project she is developing, and using her line from Macy’s (as seen in these images), so I almost fell off my chair when I got that memo across my desk. A Designer’s dream come true is to have the opportunity to showcase their ideas to the Craft Queen herself. I can die happy now as for a Creative to have the Queen of Creative even look at her work, let alone ask for more, is enough to say I lived life to the fullest. I took a look at her three inspirational style types, which were very specific (modern, contemporary, and traditional with detailed elements of each room as well) and came up with the following room schematics for her to review. Insert biting of nails here….

A more victorian/traditional look she asked for:

Long story short, she personally viewed these images/scenes and apparently I hit the mark because we are moving forward with a design project with her company. Her favorite room design is the urban NYC inspired living room above cause Martha is totally hip. I am beyond thrilled, excited and nervous to work on this project with her and possibly get to even see/visit the infamous “Craft” room in NYC eventually – definitely will blog about that if it occurs.
