My Farewell Post To The Holidays

With the year over, I like to look back and start organizing all of my photos for that past year and clean up my folders/files. I’m a quasi-organizing guru and I have to have everything in perfect order physically, virtually, and digitally. In looking back I wanted to share my personal favorite highlights of the Christmas season which included present wrapping (my favorite thing and I love finding good paper deals at year end too), visiting the tree farm, and baking cookies for my family. Those chocolate snowquake delights are the gift I kept on giving us and….my thighs.

Personal absolutely fav’s included the Polar Express Train trip we took in Sacramento one weekend. I still cannot believe we wore pajamas out in public but it did add to the festivities of the event and, well, you do it for your child so that they get the most out of the experience. We LOVED this event and staying away at a nice hotel for a night was equally fun. It was super festive and four a 4 year old boy, a dream come true!

There were even more Christmas train events in Niles that we love going on every year – so festive and some 40’s fun! This is one of our favorites since you can bring dinner on and the kids love hot chocolate. I love that it’s a real vintage train from the 40’s with original blinds and all – so much design detail and inspiration for an art deco look.

………….And candy, lot and lots of candy this season!
Then up to the mountains we roared for the last few days of the year and pre-storm that hit a day later. My only regret was that Cole came down with a terrible illness/ear infection right after (literally) this photo was taken and we had to leave. He didn’t get to enjoy it physically the way I had hoped but he certainly had a great time regardless. We’ll be back for more snow!

I found so much inspiration out on frozen Silver Lake near Kirkwood. We were just a handful of people out in this gorgeous frozen oasis and had it all to ourselves. It was surreal to be here as the last time I was was over 9 years ago when the Mr. and I first met and came up to the lake. A vast, beautiful white wonderland this time around.

Happy Holidays and New Year – I hope your season was truly blessed!
